Deadbook
November 2008 – December 2008
The Project
One of the final projects in my first term in the Masters of Digital Media program was to create a character-driven interactive narrative based on the Greek mythology of the afterlife. After two major concept changes, and with two weeks left until our deadline, our team of settled on our final idea and entered heavy production.
“Deadbook is an interactive social network narrative set on the edge of the afterlife, as souls reconnect with loved ones and ones less loved, to sort through their memories, all they have left of who they are or once were. And as they decide what they want to take with them into eternity, and forget what’s too painful to remember.” — Mark Freeman, Writer, Deadbook
My Role
As the technical lead on the Deadbook team, I developed a single-player social network RPG platform. This allowed us to create an interactive, online story told inside a social network. There were two other programmers on the team, who focussed on UI code.
